Forced to leave Japan, Yakuza gangster Takeshi Kitano (‘Beat’ Takeshi) heads to the United States where his young, half-brother is trying to be a gangster in LA with his friends. It doesn’t take long for Kitano to see the potential for starting a new crime family with his brother. Soon, he organizes the rag-tag group into a professional and successful gang.
Fans of Beat Takeshi (who have not already seen this film) need to see this film right away. It has a slightly low budget feel, but is really well done. The characters interact well and the story moves along at a good pace. It’s fun to watch the growth of the characters and the slow decent into a loss of control. A crime drama with a slight Reservoir Dogs feel to it. Check it.
