Hello, kis babák!

After years of providing fantastic services and fine food, it looks like Délicieux:Paris is going to be closing it’s doors…and moving to a new, larger location! That’s right, Délicieux has finally reached it’s goal of becoming one of THE places to go while visiting Paris. So much so that it needs to expand.
“This is what we hoped for all along,” says host Julé Morteu. “It’s a good problem to have – too many people wanting to partake of your establishment. Right? So, we are moving close by, but it is a much larger space with more separation between the club and restaurant. I think this will help to provide a more pleasant atmosphere.”

Délicieux is going the way of Prague’s hit pOp – the highly popular nightspot in the Czech Republic. Expanding it’s space, but keeping it’s fine food and atmosphere.

Dianna Agron took a break from Paris Fashion Week to slip into something a little more comfortable – a side table, a dark stranger,  lobster and a bottle of Chteau Lafite Rothschild Pauillac. She danced the night away in style, then slipped out into the rain with a quick stop for photos. Her beau remained in the wings.

Model Elisa Sednaoui decided to skip dinner to dive directly into the dancing. Kick up those four inch heels!

The Prince of Pop Ali Zafar arrived among a flurry of autograph seekers during Délicieux Démence and seemed to have a very good time. Dining was followed by quite conversation with his group in the Sanctuaire over drinks. Zafar seemed to prefer watching the dancing over partaking himself. We all need a night off once in a while.

We made it to the hip and cool RYE recently and it was well worth the visit. We’ve been to BOURBON AND BRANCH several times and it was time for a change. My wife picked the spot and we ventured.
And, it was so worth it.
True, it’s not cheap, but the cool factor mixed with people who work there being very friendly and knowledgeable made the experience very pleasant. I got to chat with a bartender and discovered a fantastic, Japanese whiskey. (( Hakushu 12 year )) The place was a tad loud, but I blame a good crowd and hard flooring, walls and ceiling. They even had a smoking section for those who are inclined to smoke. It’s enclosed and part of the bar.
Looking to WOW out of town guests or business clients? Something special for an anniversary or birthday? amore eroma recommends RYE if you prefer hip bar over speakeasy bar (Bourbon and Branch).

Cute film about a college student trying to find the girl he shared a moment with in an elevator during a black out at his school. No, this is not an Animal House – like T&A romp. (Well…it does have a little T&A, but….) It falls into the soul searching category. Very well made little romance a la SAY ANYTHING.

Syrup and cotton candy on a romantic tip. Return to Me is a romance with…heart. Duchovny and Driver fall in love among old timers and married couples. He’s the classic good guy who’s getting over his wife’s death and she’s a beauty trying to hide the fact that she had a heart transplant. Comedy ensues. It’s sweet and campy and filled with good intentions. Looking for something sweet this V-Day? This is it.

Steve Carell and Tina Fey doing what they do best – wacky. This comedy of errors and mistaken identity is fun and silly and well worth a viewing. The writing is basic for sure, but it delivers some giggles and some “feel good comedy” moments that will entertain as long as you’re not looking for anything too high brow. Rekindle the romance comedy fun.

Al Pacino and Michelle Pfeiffer made a movie together? Yes, and it’s not bad. Another classic “will they or won’t they get together” plot from the director of PRETTY WOMAN with some memorable scenes and true romance, but nothing too deep. Keep it surface and fun and you’re bound to enjoy this little Golden Globe nominated smooch fest. Keep tissues handy for waterworks at the end of the film. This is a classic, 90’s romantic comedy with all the bells, whistles and “goofy friends of the lead character” we love.

The lighter and sometimes much darker side of love, marriage and relationships is explored in this Robert Altman classic. It’s a “bottle story” where a family wedding reception reveals that things are not at all well with the family units involved. Some grand performances and spot on Altman dialog and situations make this a fun and wacky film.

This lovely nugget from 1981 stars Dudley Moore as an alcoholic billionaire and Liza Minnelli as a “common person” he falls in love with. Instant classic. This film still holds up with Moore’s insane drunken laughter and Sir John Gielgud’s amazing performance as his butler. Fun dialog and a sweet love story. Well worth checking out!

Another movie that will warrant a full box of tissues. This tearfest will have you swooning. The late Christopher Reeve travels back in time sans time machine – just with the power of his mind. His mission is to meet the lovely Jane Seymour – the love of his life. But, can their love stand the test…of time. Ok…sorry, but that’s what you get here. It’s SUPER sweet and love filled. PERFECT for a romantic, wine filled night by candlelight.

Woody Allen…IN COLOR! That’s right – one of Allen’s early color films. Filmed in San Francisco, this film explores a very Casablanca-like set up. Allen’s wife leaves him and he’s forced to get back out in the world of dating. His good friend Diane Keaton is there to help him through and get him on the right path. But, will her helping merely fuel Allen’s love for her?

Filled with fantastic slapstick humor and grand dialogue, this has to be one of my favorite Woody Allen films.

In short, this film will give you insulin shock with how sweet it is. It’s a romantic comedy in the classic Asian tradition. Two people are meant for each other and – time and time again – miss each other by inches. Fate keeps sending them in opposite directions and on a series of near misses. It’s a fairytale and so light it will have you floating above your sofa after you finish watching it! It has some really silly comedic moments in it as well. Fans of When Harry Met Sally or Sleepless in Seattle type movies will dig this for sure. It helps if you are familiar (and prepared for) Asian film stylings as well. If you like romantic comedies, pick this up. You’ll like it.

The amazing Gerry Anderson!

Amore eroma thought it was time to highlight some of Mr. Anderson’s work. He was the mastermind behind some great television and engineered some rather amazing gimmicks. One of his crowning achievements was his role in SUPERMARIONATION. This was a puppetry technique developed by Anderson and his second wife Sylvia Anderson. The puppets were large and their vehicles and sets were massive undertakings. I believe the cost per episode was around £25000.

It was a thrill to see shows like THUNDERBIRDS and CAPTAIN SCARLETT as a child. Seeing the puppets move and talk was amazing. The story lines were exciting, well written and engaging. Edge-of-your-seat thrills were packed into every show. The vehicles were fantastic and their designs were top notch. The designers even got an OK from ROLLS-ROYCE Motors on their Rolls design for the Thunderbirds show. A rather major complement to their team.

Space Nazi’s? Really?
Fans of SKY CAPTAIN AND THE WORLD OF TOMORROW will want to keep an eye to the skies for this space epic being produced by Energia Productions on a micro-budget. This film looks amazing so far – offering up some grand 3D and green screen visions that thrill me to no end.

What happens when some truly creative folks get together and make a dream happen? PROJECT ARBITER!

Some talented folks got together and are producing a really fun and exciting alternate history, sci fi action film that promises to kick much butt! The drive and determination of these talents really makes me happy. It’s great to see people get together to do something they love – no matter how difficult the challenge may prove to be at times.

ARBITER has a fantastic, real world look and comes through on pushing the boundaries of sci fi with a real world feel. The filmmakers love of film comes through loud and clear and their efforts shine. I hope this outing to make a 20 minute funding short proves to be profitable and fruitful – getting them backing for a big budget, feature film. It will be a blockbuster for sure.
