After I purchased télépopmusik’s GENETIC WORLD CD, I played it over and over again for about three to four hours as I walked through the City, shopped, cleaned, and wrote articles like this. They have a “James Bond Theme” style that strikes a cord with me that is deep and strong. It’s electronic music with a soul. They mix sultry vocals with sound bites and tie the whole of it together with a complex, musical structure that makes me think of summers in Europe, bicycle rides on Mount Tamalpais, and slick spies fighting and loving their way through life. Unlike some Euro-Tech-Pop, télépopmusik has depth and substance that makes it easy to listen to. It can be on in the background as you do other tasks or entertain, but can also be loud and alive in a pair of headphones without making you want to grind your teeth together into a fine paste. Fans of ZERO 7 and PORTISHEAD will love it.
